Gwynneth Castagna
WELLINGTON – Gwynneth Harrison Castagna, age 73, passed away Aug. 20, 2005 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
She was born Dec. 9, 1931 in Wallasey, Birkenhead, England, to Rees Owen and Elsie Alexandra McCormick Williams. Married Charles C. Castagna Jan. 14, 1953 in Birkenhead, England, and they later renewed their vows on May 12, 1997. He passed away on June 20, 1997.
“Gwen” loved crafts, cooking, yard sales, caring for her family and spending time with her great-granddaughter Danyelle Hutson. She especially loved her special granddaughter Nathina Castagna who was at her side from the time she became ill until the angels came to take her home.
Survived by two sons and two daughters, Charles (Deona) Castagna, Price; Gwen (James) Abney, Techachapi, Calif.; Candy Castagna, Palm Springs, Calif.; Jason Castagna, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Leann Castagna, Helper; two brothers and one sister, Arthur Williams, New Zealand; Winnie Williams, Kenny Williams, both of England; 16 loving grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husband; and son, Mike Castagna.
Funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 24, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Linda Trauntvein
Together Again
PRICE – Our beloved mother, grandmother, niece and friend has reunited with her true love once again. Linda Kay Trauntvein, 62, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with health problems.
Linda was born July 13, 1943 to Lucille and Pedro Perez in Grand Junction, Colo. She was a lifetime resident of Price, and later married her love Neldon Lee Trauntvein. She was the best mother anyone could ask for.
Linda enjoyed many years of bowling and any activity as long as it was with family and friends. She was also a delegate of Price. Linda was the backbone of the family that kept us all together. Children were her life whether it was her own family or the many young lives she touched as a daycare provider. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survived by daughters, Bridget Denny, Yvette Trauntvein-Wood, Linda Deke Kraushaar, and Nicole Butkovich, all of Price; grandchildren, Clifton (Sheena) Barker, Brookville, Ind., Christopher Denny, Dwight Denny, Chantell Denny, Ritchie Wood, Neldon Trauntvein, Dekota Kraushaar, and Nicholas Butkovich, all of Price; aunt, Margie Huerta, Grand Junction, Colo.; uncle, James Huerta, Grand Junction, Colo.; uncle, Raymond (Vivian) Huerta, Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Carol (C.D.) Trauntvein Linker, Reno, Nev.; sons-in-law, Garth Denny, Ritchie Wood, and John Butkovich, Price; many cousins; extended father and best friend, Elayna (Marinoni) Falsone and children. Also a special thanks to Stanley Shelton of Gypsum, Colo. who helped in the love and support of our family. Preceded in death by parents, Lucille and Pedro Perez; aunt, Cecilia Huerta; and husband, Neldon Trauntvein.
As requested no services will be held but the doors to Linda’s house will be open to all as they always were.
Gary Van Wagoner
CLEVELAND – Gary Edward Van Wagoner, 68, passed away Aug. 20, 2005.
He was born Oct. 19, 1936 in Wellington, to Afton and Rubelle Thompson Van Wagoner. As the fifth child of a family of 10, he learned at an early age the meaning of hard work. At the age of 17, he joined the Air Force and served for eight years during which time he met and married Mary June Whitt, Aug. 19, 1956. She passed away four years later. He married Diane Russell Nov. 5, 1966 and they made their home in Salt Lake City for a time, after which they moved to Cleveland, where Gary had been raised.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and simply sitting around the breakfast table, giving advice and counsel to his family and many friends that stopped by each day. Gary was a jack of all trades and there was not a thing in this world he could not fix.
Gary is survived by his wife, Diane of Cleveland; children, Dan of Castle Dale; Terry of Ogden; Jerry and Gary of Salt Lake; Tammy and Steve Lyons of West Jordan; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also survived by brothers, David, Dan, Dale and Greg; and sisters, Lorraine, Helen and Judy. Preceded in death by brother, Ronald; and sister, Virginia.
Gary leaves behind an inspiration of wisdom, honesty, friendship and caring to all those whose lives he touched.
At his request, private services will be held under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Primary Children’s Hospital or the Utah Downs Syndrome Association.
Pete Morris
SALT LAKE CITY – Pete Morris, 91, of Salt Lake City, died August 21, 2005.
He was born July 1, 1914 in Garfield.
He married Frances Koncher on July 10, 1943. She died December 9, 2003.
He was raised in Carbon County. He worked in the mining, trucking, and steel industries. He was a tech sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, 1942 -1946.
Pete is survived by daughter, Marlene M. Morris of Salt Lake City; son, Peter D. Morris of Clinton; and granddaughter, Julia K. Morris of Salt Lake City.
A very special thanks to Brad Banks and the employees at Intermountain Wood Products for the many kindnesses they extended to Pete for the past 25 years.
Graveside services will be Thursday, noon, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South. Under the direction of Neil O’Donnell and Sons.
