Shelley Christensen
PRICE/SALT LAKE CITY – Shelley J. Christensen, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2005 at home.
Born March 28, 1973 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Jim and Katherine Smith Kern. Married Steven C. Christensen in Price on May 20, 1994.
Shelley was dedicated to her profession and enjoyed working at West Jordan Medical Center. She was a graduate of Carbon High School and College of Eastern Utah. She graduated from Salt Lake Community College with honors.
Her family was closest to her heart.
Survived by her husband, Steven C. Christensen; daughter, Kayla Jean Christensen, both of Salt Lake City; parents, Katherine (Larry) Taylor, Price; grandmother; Annie N. Schacht, West Valley; grandfather, George E. Smith Jr., Taylorsville; brothers, Douglas (Joanna) Taylor, Page, Ariz.; and Roger (Lynette) Taylor, Price. Also survived by cousins, uncles and aunts.
Funeral service Saturday, July 16, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 E. Main, Price. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Kayla at Wells Fargo, 180 E. Main, Price, UT 84501.
Owen Cato
PRICE – Owen David Cato, age 81, returned to his Heavenly Father and joined much of his family July 12, 2005.
He passed away in Price after a short illness.
He was born to Charles U. and Mary Ellen (Ella) Westwood Cato Jan. 12, 1924 at Redondo Beach, Calif.
Owen spent much of his life in eastern Utah and Grand Junction, Colo.
He was a uranium miner, a self-taught master of several languages, a master of trivia and a gifted artist.
He served an LDS mission in Montana, serving a lot of that time among the Sioux.
Owen also worked many years at the Colorado State Home and Training School in Grand Junction, Colo., before retirement.
He is survived by sisters, Edith Johnston of Price; and Zona Cato of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who fondly called him “Uncle Owen.” Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Elvin, Clinton and Rowland; and sister, Leda Cato Smith Likes.
Services will be Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at the Moab LDS Stake Center, 701 Locust Lane. Viewings will be Friday, July 15, at Fausett Mortuary in Price from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services at the chapel.
Norman Lowe
GREEN RIVER – Norman Lowe, age 90, our loving husband, father and grandfather, returned to his Father in Heaven July 12, 2005 in South Jordan.
He was born July 3, 1915 in Cedar City to Grant A. and Rosetta Bauer Lowe. He married Verla Curtis Dec. 25, 1936 in Green River, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in various callings.
He worked as a carpenter and businessman in Salt Lake City, Hiawatha and Green River where community service was very important to him, putting others before self.
He loved spending time with his family camping, fishing and hunting.
Norman is survived by wife, Verla of Green River; children, Myrna Watterson of Daybreak; Norma Jean and Edward Hansen of Green River; Gayle Ann and Kent Olsen of Taylorsville; Gary Allen and Karen Lowe of Sandy; 23 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Diane Tedesco of Portland, Ore. Preceded in death by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 11 a.m., at the Green River LDS Ward Chapel, which he helped build. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Robin O’Hanahan
PRICE/ELKO, Nev. – Desiree Robin Rasmusssen O’Hanahan passed away July 10, 2005 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Robin was born March 23, 1948 in Price.
Robin possessed many unique talents. She will be remembered for her ability to listen and to care about other people. She would always find time for anyone who needed someone to talk to.
Friends often called her “the keeper of secrets.” Anyone who knew her will also remember her for the ability to find pleasure in the simpler things in life. She often reminded us that family and loving friends are our greatest assets.
Most of all she enjoyed the quiet of the mountains and exploring nature’s beauty and wildlife with her husband, their children and friends.
Robin’s positive attitude, pleasant smile, quick wit, and humor carried her through life as well as through her illness. We are better for having known her and will miss her deeply.
She is survived by loving husband and friend of 32 years, Patrick Michael O’Hanahan; daughter, Dianna Lyn O’Hanahan Driscoll; son, Patrick Wade O’Hanahan; parents, Dan and Diane Bent; sister, Kris Armstrong; two grandchildren; and three nieces.
In lieu of flowers, she requested donation be made to the American Cancer Society’s Colorectal Cancer Research and urged everyone, women as well as men, to get their early colon cancer screenings.
Lyle Stilson
CASTLE DALE – Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor passed away July 12, 2005 at the home of his daughter, DeAnn Cox in Santa Clara at the age of 88.
He was born Feb. 20, 1917 to Melvin S. Stilson and Clara Ella Hall in Orangeville. He married Nola Mae Jones May 23, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Lived and raised their four children in Castle Dale for more than 50 years.
He was an active member of the LDS Church. He and wife Nola served a mission in Tempe, Ariz.
Lyle was one of the most loved of any man we’ve ever known. Loved by everyone who ever met him. By his four children, his 17 grandchildren who he adored, as well as friends, neighbors and extended family too numerous to mention.
He was kind and gentle beyond the capacity of most mortals. A spirit that exemplified what it means to be truly noble and compassionate. He will be missed by an ache and void that can never be replaced or filled.
He spent more than 42 years working in various local coal mines before retiring from Emery Mining.
He was loved and respected by all his many coworkers over the years. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter.
Survived by four children, DeAnn (Kimball) Cox, Pamala (Jim) Jewkes, Eric Lyle (Tracy) Stilson, and Kayla Mae Reichman; and sisters, Bly Gregerson, Pat DeWitt, Fawn Coackley and Roma Christensen. H was preceded in death by lifelong sweetheart, Nola Mae in May of 2002 and previously by two brothers, Owen and Jack.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, 2 p.m., at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. Friends and family may call there between 12:30 and 1:45 p.m., Friday prior to the services.
