The local Western Base-Ball Association, or WBBA, will commence their all-star tournament action on Tuesday, July 5.
Games will involve minor league, which is 10 years of age and under, and major league action. Leagues involved include Carbon (who has a blue and a grey team,) Helper, Wellington, Sunnyside and Green River.
Games will be played in several locations, including the Helper, Green River and Northern Heights fields.
Local tournament action will begin on July 5 for both the major and minor leagues.
Minor league action will continue until July 13.
Majors will continue play until around July 20 or 21 to determine the two local entries for the “Little World Series of WBBA.”
Carbon County received the honor of hosting the world series, which is scheduled for the Toy Atwood Baseball Complex in Price. Games will be held from August 2 through 6.
Price will be hosting an opening day picnic and barbecue at Pioneer Park in celebration of the event. This will be on Monday, August 1.
Tuesday will start off with an opening ceremony on the north field of the Toy Atwood complex. This will begin at 8:30 a.m. that morning.
Play will follow this event. Games will be played from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In preparation for the event, fields at the Toy Atwood complex have been made to be some of the best in the state after several thousands of dollars went toward construction on the fields.
Donations from Carbon County Recreation and several Eagle projects have made the renovations on the fields possible. Without them, the world series would never have been possible.
