Road construction report for Utah highways

This report advises motorists of major construction projects on Utah highways that may impact traffic, and is compiled every other week. The project descriptions provide general information: overall scope, basic traffic control measures and anticipated completion dates.
Some projects may not be included due to their short time table or lesser impact on traffic. Construction schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions, equipment problems or emergency situations.
This report does not include information on federal, county or city projects unless UDOT is directly involved. Please refer to the proper agency for information on projects not included in this report.
Emery County:
•U.S. Highway 6 from MP 291 to 300 (Pavement Rehabilitation) Project includes a hot-in-place recycling of existing pavement. Paving will resume June 27. Traffic is reduced to one lane in alternating directions as directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Expected completion: September 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 from MP 226 to 228 (Passing Lane) Project includes addition of a passing lane. Crews are currently working on shoulder areas of the road with one lane of traffic open in each direction with a reduced speed limit. Wide load restrictions are in place and motorists should expect minimum delays. Expected completion: Fall 2005.
•State Route 10 Muddy Creek Bridge Replacement (North of Emery) Project includes the replacement of a bridge over Muddy Creek north of Emery. Crews have completed a temporary bridge and are currently building the permanent bridge. A reduced speed limit of 35 mph is posted through construction zone. Motorists should expect minimum delays. Expected completion: September 2005.
Carbon County:
•U.S. 6 from Price to Wellington. Project includes widening of U.S. 6 from two lanes to four. The project is essentially complete and crews are chip sealing and paining the project and performing cleanup activities. Motorists should watch for worker crews and equipment in the area and expect minor delays. Expected completion: June 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 from MP 258 to 261 (Passing Lane) Project includes addition of a passing lane. This project is suspended until August. Expected completion: September 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 at Sunnyside Junction. Project includes the widening of a bridge on U.S. 6 near Sunnyside Junction. Crews are currently working on the shoulder areas of the road with one lane of traffic open in each direction with minimum delays. Expected completion: Fall 2005.
Grand County:
•I-70 from MP 107 to 138.Project includes a roto-mill, overlay and chip seal of a 20-mile section of road. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction. Motorists can expect minimum delays and should watch for workers and heavy equipment in the area. Expected completion: October 2005.
•I-70 from MP 95 to 165 (Guardrail Replacement) Project includes the replacement of guardrail. Project is complete.
•I-70 from MP 214 to 221. Project includes a roto-mill, overlay and chip seal of a 7-mile section of road. Crews are currently performing cleanup activities and plan to finish the project by July 2. Until then, traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction with a reduced speed limit of 65 mph. Motorists can expect minimum delays and should watch for workers and heavy equipment in the area. Expected completion: July 2, 2005.
•U.S. 191 through Moab Canyon. Project includes the final chip seal of a project completed last fall. Project complete.
•State Route 313 to Dead Horse Point. Project includes the chip seal treatment to extend roadway life. Project complete.
•State Route 128 Bridge Replacement at Mile Marker 14. Project includes the replacement of a bridge 14 miles east of Moab. Crews have completed construction of a temporary bridge and are currently building the permanent bridge. A reduced speed limit of 35 mph is posted through construction zone. Motorists should expect minimum delays. Expected completion: September 2005.
