Substance abuse training takes place

Verne Larson, a training expert from the state, talks about developing effective substance abuse programs in communities across Utah during a one-day workshop attended by numerous people from the local area at East Carbon High on Tuesday. The training program consisted of a history of prevention in Utah, the results of prevention research that has been conducted, program planning, evaluation and ethics involved in dealing with prevention as well as how to utilize and work with the media when it comes to programs. The training session drew approximately 30 people, many of whom are already involved in programs to lower drug use in the county.Lori Prince and Madaline Nyffeler join with Brianna Scoville, Sheri Vlamakis and Tracy Taylor in “A – My Name Is Alice.” The production by Castle Valley Community Theatre starts tonight and continues through Saturday at the Price Civic Auditorium, with nightly performances at 7:30 p.m. Nightly performances will continue at the Rio Theater in Helper next week, March 17 through 19, also at 7:30 p.m.
