Dellas Atwood
ELMO/SALT LAKE CITY – Beloved husband and father, Dellas Movell Atwood, 84, passed away March 6, 2005 at Cottonwood Hospital.
He was born Feb. 20, 1921 in Elmo, to Soren Edward Atwood and Rachel Pearl Cramer. He married Carmen Mary Nelson on June 21, 1986 in Ogden and they were sealed June 19, 1987 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served in World War II in the Pacific, discharged as a staff sergeant, 322nd Infantry Regiment H. He served in the Northwestern States Mission for the LDS Church 1948-1950. He attended BYU for three years and was a brick mason for over 45 years. He was an active member and served in various church callings throughout his life. He had a strong testimony of the gospel.
He loved gardening and sharing his produce. He taught his sons to work in the garden. He loved to read the scriptures and discussed them with anyone. He was very patriotic and honored his country and was a member of the Olympus Male Chorus for many years. He played the harmonica, banjo, saxophone, piano and organ, and enjoyed listening to others play music. He was a good father and husband and will be dearly missed for his positive attitude.
He is survived by wife, Carmen; two sons, Nathaniel Delmen, 17; Alexander Cardell, 15; brothers, Glen, Von, Clark; and many friends.
His family would like to thank Hospice for Utah and their kindness and care of Dellas.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 10, 11 a.m., at the Ridgedale LDS Ward, 3400 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the ward chapel Thursday one hour prior to services.
LaRue Reed
EAST CARBON – LaRue Anderson Reed, 78, of East Carbon, passed away peacefully at her home of a brain tumor.
She was born Dec. 30, 1926 to Mabel and Alfred Anderson.
LaRue loved traveling and made several fun trips with her daughter, Woodi “Char,” and sister, Rene. She also spent a great deal of time at the East Carbon senior center, where she was known as the “coffee lady.”
She was loved by her many friends there and she treasured their friendships. She was always seen driving her blue Lincoln Towncar with the special “LaRue’s” license places given to her by her husband, Woody.
Survived by daughter, Woodi Charlene Reed, East Carbon; granddaughter, Melissa Mancha, New York, N.Y.; grandson, Lynn Gates, Helper; brothers and sisters, Clair Anderson, Hanford, Calif.; Dean Anderson, Gunnison; Rene Cupples, East Carbon; and Roma Cooper and Orene Sawyer, Evanston, Wyo. Preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Mabel Anderson; and husband, Woodrow “Woody” Reed.
Family and friends will gather at Fausett Mortuary for a memorial service Wednesday, March 16, 2 p.m. followed by graveside services at the Price City Cemetery.
Steven Spooner
PRICE – Steven Lee Spooner, age 44, passed away Feb. 25, 2005 in Moab.
He was born March 8, 1960 in Othello, Wash., to Ronald J. and Joyce L. Lovell Spooner.
Steven loved the outdoors, rappelling, fishing, climbing, camping,four-wheeling and, most of all time, spent with his family and friends.
Steve loved being a backyard mechanic and mini stock racing at Desert Thunder Raceway.
Steve was a dear man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by wife, Tonia Dawn, of Price; children, Alissa Dawn, Tristan Michael, Calista Marie and Paul Alan, all of Price; in-laws, Wesley Paul and Susan Hilliard, Titus and Jackie Hilliard, Ernest and Lurrine Lopez, all of Huntington; and Jesus and Tina Maldonado of Springville. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Alan.
Memorial services were conducted on Wednesday, March 9, at Fausett Mortuary in Price. A family dinner was presented at the Huntington 3rd LDS Ward Church.
