Elizabeth Nielsen
PRICE – Elizabeth Althera Jones Williams Nielsen, affectionately called “Lizzie,” returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 2, 2005.
She was born Jan. 10, 1908 at Clear Creek to John Johnson and Fanny Rebecca Lucas Jones. She was the oldest child of eight children.
She married Lenard Stephen Williams Oct. 21, 1925 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their home was blessed with five children, Rea “J” Williams (Fred Tatton), Wellington; Donna “V” Williams (Bob Williams), both deceased; Lenard Lamond Williams (Jaselene), Price; Lynwood Stephen, deceased (Phyllis Bendixsen), Salt Lake City; and Terry Lavell (Marianne), Salt Lake City.
Elizabeth was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She served in different organizations, Sunday School, MIA, Relief Society and Primary. She was a visiting teacher for 70 years.
In 1948, she joined the Amere club where she met and made many friends.
After her family was raised, she worked for the Carbon County School District as a hot lunch lady at the Durrant School. She enjoyed being around little children.
Lenard passed away March 12, 1975 and she married Wilford Lewis Nielsen Jr. Aug. 4, 1979. Wilford died Aug. 27, 1988.
Elizabeth was able to live in her home that Lenard and she purchased in 1945 for 58 years. She was 95 and, although she hated to leave her home where she had so many fond memories, she moved to the Heirloom Inn where she continued to live until the time of her death.
She is survived by three children; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma McArthy, Orem; brothers, Melvin Jones, Salt Lake City; Ross Jones (Yvonne) Price; stepchildren, Lewis (Grethe) Nielsen, Centerfield; Lynn (Carol) Nielsen, Sandy; Dorothy (Jay) O’Driscoll, Canyon Lake, Calif.; Leah (Glen) James, Helper; and Donna Lue (James) Mullins, Brigham City. Also preceded in death by sister, Florence Wallace; and brothers Walter Willis and Joe Jones.
Services for Elizabeth will be Saturday, March 5, 11 a.m. at the LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 995 E. 700 North in Price. Viewing Friday evening, 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price, and one hour prior to services.
Charles Kirkwood
HELPER – Charles Nelson Kirkwood, age 50, passed away suddenly Feb. 28, 2005 in Helper.
Born March 23, 1954 in Provo, to Earl “Pete” and Marjorie Jane Nelson Kirkwood.
Charles grew up in Thistle and moved to Helper in 1964 where he worked in various coal mines in the area. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with family and friends. He loved practical jokes, especially playing them on the people he loved most. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially mechanicing and fixing things around the home. “We will miss you and love you forever.”
Survived by mother, Jane Kirkwood; sister, Sharon Jane (Deke) Hrienson, both of Helper; brother, Earl (Debbie) Kirkwood, Hotchkiss, Colo.; half sister, Earlene Warren, Helper; nephew, Pete Kirkwood, Helper; nieces, Desery (Larry) Martinez, Orangeville; Samantha (Mark) Ivie, Taylorsville; Kerry Ann (Ron) Neece, Grand Junction, Colo.; five great-nieces and nephews, Aubrey Hunter, Kelsey, Mark, Dan LeRoy; and many loving cousins and a community of friends. Preceded in death by father; and brother, Guy LeRoy Kirkwood.
Graveside service, Friday, March 4, noon, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily.
Cindy Lou Dimick
PLEASANT GROVE – Cindy Lou Powell Dimick, 48 of Pleasant Grove, returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on Feb. 28, 2005.
She was sent here by her Father in Heaven on Jan. 13, 1957 to Shirlef and Betty Powell. She married Ricky Harvey on March 25, 1976 and they had three beautiful daughters, Cory, Amy and Jennifer. Ricky passed away in 1986. Then in 2000, she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Dimick, with whom she shared being a grandmother of 10 grandchildren.
She attended and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
She enjoyed being around her family. She loved to travel, draw, paint, sew and do yard work.
She is truly loved and survived by her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Cory Keetch, Amy Howard and Jennifer Jenkins; stepchildren, Brandon and Blake Dimick; 10 grandchildren, Lacy, Ricki, Cassidy, Sadie, Gracie, Elicia, Damion, Preston, Murphy, Madisen; sister, Kathy Casper; and brother, Lenny Powell. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary; and Ricky, the father of her children.
Services will be Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 North, American Fork. Friends may call at the mortuary from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
Betty Hegna
PRICE/SALT LAKE – Betty Jane Gentry Hegna, age 73, passed away March 1, 2005 in Salt Lake City, while surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 26, 1931 in Price, to William Charles and Elizabeth Baird Gentry.
Member of the LDS Church and longtime resident of Carbon County. Her greatest love was for her children, grandchildren and her son, Wesley who cared for her so dearly.
Survived by children, Faye Jean (Merrill) Hansen, Wolf Pointe, Mont.; Gerald (Kathy) Olson, St. George; John Hovat, Wesley Hegna, Heidi Hegna, all of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Betty; and brother, Charlie Gentry.
Graveside service, Saturday, March 5, 11 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service.
