Donna Stout
PRICE/PROVO – Donna Marie Gilbert Stout passed away Feb. 9, 2005 of congestive heart failure at East Lake Care Center in Provo.
Donna was born July 11, 1922 in Castle Gate to Victor Emmanuel and Maria Parmley Gilbert.
Donna’s school years were spent in Castle Gate, where she attended grade school at the Castle Gate Elementary School, then went on to high school and junior college in Price, where she received an associate’s degree in business.
Donna was a talented pianist and played often for church meetings, Gold and Green Balls and paid for her college tuition playing for dance classes at the college.
After graduating from junior college, Donna worked for several years at the Castle Gate Wasatch Store until leaving to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California. It was during this time that Donna met Bernell Golden Stout, also a missionary, from Burley, Idaho. Following their missions, they were married on July 11, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Donna and Bernell made their home in Burley, Idaho, for the next 52 years where they raised a family of four girls and two boys, Donnell (James) Allred, Jean (Layne) Porter, Barbara (Mike) Jones all of Provo; Brent (Nancy) Stout of Hickman, Calif.; Vicky (Scott) Johnson of Waterford, Calif.; and Jerry (Debbie) Stout of Hazelton, Idaho.
Donna found great joy in her 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and often commented that they were the joy of her life.
Donna is survived by her children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Gilbert of St. George; and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Gilbert and Josephine Gilbert Houghton; stillborn brother, Thomas Andrew; and husband, Bernell.
The family of Donna Stout wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the East Lake Care Center for the kind and loving care shown to our mother and grandmother these past five years.
Funeral was Monday, Feb. 14, at the Provo Sunset LDS Stake Center. Interment followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Burley, Idaho, under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home.
Bob Marshall
HELPER – Robert John Marshall, age 74, passed away Feb. 15, 2005 at Castleview Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1930 in Heiner, to James Brooks and Ila Hampson Marshall. Married Peggy Shalene Haycock July 3, 1950 in Carbonville.
Longtime resident of Carbon County, where he served as the union president for the Price River Coal preparation plant, UMWA Local 1681.
Honorably served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Bob’s greatest love was spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and giving everyone special nicknames.
Survived by wife, Peggy Marshall, Helper; sons, Jay (Sue) Marshall, Terry (Marla) Marshall, both of Price; daughters, Tonya (Scott) Turner, Helper; Cookie Martinez, Salt Lake City; Billie Jean Marshall, Provo; sister, Leila Boucher, Washington; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Fluffy. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, James, Joe, Jerry and Jack Marshall; and sisters, Ruth and Evelyn.
Funeral service Saturday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Pat Hillas
PRICE – Our loving mother, yia yia, sister, aunt and friend, Patricia Dragatis Hillas, age 76, passed away Feb. 11, 2005 at home while surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 19, 1928 to Harry Nicholas and Efthemia Zaganas Dragatis. She married John Hillas May 14, 1950 in Price.
She was an active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a member of the Philoptochos Society.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County, where she attended Notre Dame School and graduated from Carbon High School in 1946.
She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
As a prominent businesswoman, she worked with her husband and family at the Mecca Club and Cafe since 1961.
She enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting with friends.
Pat had a great love for family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
Survived by 10 children, George (Marcella) Hillas, Efthemia (Mike) Bruno, Elizabeth (Ron) Howes, Harry (Barbara) Hillas, Andrew Hillas, Elaine Hillas, Kathryn (Keith) Lawrence, Steve (Angie) Hillas, John Hillas, and Patrick Hillas; two sisters, Mary Vatsis and Kathryn Halamandaris; sister-in-law, Mary Tervo; brother-in-law, Mike Stavros; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents; husband; brother, Nicholas Dragatis; and great-grandson, Seth Howes.
We appreciate the sacrifices you made for us, Mom. We love you and will miss you very much.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 17,1 p.m., at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. Trisagion prayer service was Wednesday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, at the Price City Cemetery.
