A Friday afternoon trip up Consumers and into the area around Coal City proves that the snow is deep in the area; One fence post and brace poke up through the deep mounds of snow. Most of the unpaved roads in the area are muddy, but off to the side snow is piled up in a lot of places. Drifts are common. But even more common are the deep spots where the white stuff has stacked up during the winter. Some people have predicted the end of the drought considering the amount of snow all areas across the state have received. But experts indicate that the public must wait for any official announcement about that until the spring when it can be ascertained that the moisture is continuing.
