Letter to the Editor: Why high gas prices

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
I am writing this letter regarding the fuel prices in Carbon County.
Three to four months ago Carbon County’s fuel prices were five to seven cents per gallon more than the prices over the hill. (Spanish Fork to Tooele).
For some reason now our local gas stations are charging 20 cents more per gallon of gas than Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas.
As of Jan. 5, one Spanish Fork station charged per gallon $1.81, another on 7200 South in Salt Lake City was $1.71, a convenience store in Tooele was $1.72 and a grocery store gas station in Lehi was $1.73.
Also, the gas prices in Carbon County have dropped only three cents from their former price.
What’s wrong here?
