Carbon divers travel to state qualifying meet

By Sun Advocate

January 7 proved to be snowy and cold, and a trip to Kamas wasn’t easy for the Carbon diving team. However the effort was worth the result.
In the boys competition Michael Glasson started out in last place as a result of his first diving attempt failing.
However, he was able to concentrate on his other 10 dives and worked his way back up to fifth place overall.
Phillip Noyes finished in ninth place and Jacob Perez finished out the day in 13th.
In the girls competition, Mikaleen Loveless placed sixth and Lynn’D Anderson took seventh. Both were not at their best at this meet , but still did a good job considering the day everyone had.
Katie Hobbs competed in only her second meet and ended up 13th overall.
Brittany Horrocks competed in the six dive portion of the meet and placed fourth.
In order to qualify for state divers must complete 11 dives from five different groups.
The team will now travel to Park City for a another qualifying meet on January 15. There they will face some of the toughest competition of the year.
