Carbon swimmers compete at Davis

The Carbon High swim team met with five other schools at Davis High School on Dec. 2 and competed in the Wasatch Invitational.
Carbon’s men team took second place in the meet, missing out on first place by only two points to Wasatch High School of Heber.
The Carbon girls team came in fifth scoring 106 points during the meet. The team that competed for Carbon has seven swimmers on it in the first year of competition.
Individually for the boys, Chris Eikenbary scored two first places, one in the 200 IM and one in the 100 breaststroke.
Chase Norton also scored well with a first place in the 100 freestyle and a third in 200 freestyle.
Bradlee Leonard took first in the 500 freestyle while Leo Yu took third in the 50 freestyle.
Other swimmers who competed and did well were Jacob Mantz, Dan Gibson, Cliff Sorensen, D.J. Wiley, Thomas Peterson, Jimmy Dilley, Derrik Leonard and Michael Rigby.
A Carbon team also won the 400 freestyle relay. That team included Norton, Gibson, Yu and Leonard.
Two relay teams took third. The first was in the 200 medley relay. That team had Yu, Eikenbary, Mantz and Gibson on it.
The other team took third in the 200 free relay. That team had Norton, Gibson, Yu and Leonard on it.
In the girls events the best finishers came in seventh place for the Lady Dinos. Regina Tetreault in the 100 breaststroke, Ali Baum in the 200 freestyle, and Megan Brandon in the 500 freestyle all took seventh.
Other finishers for Carbon included Bonnie Peterson, Danae Riche, Kelsey Gillespie, Victoria Brown, April Sorensen, Cynthia Owen and Rosemary Dinkins.
Two womens relay teams finished fourth during the competition.
The first team was in the 200 medley which was composed of Baum, Peterson, Gillespie, and Tetreault.
The other relay team that took fourth was in the 400 free relay. That team was composed of Victoria Brown, Riche, Sorensen and Brandon.
