“Welcome home Doc” is what the sign said to Sgt. Kollar when he came home last summer.

When Rick Kollar came home from Iraq last summer for a visit he knew he would be going back to Italy for another tour and then probably on to Afghanistan.
But what the Army medic wasn’t sure of was when he would come back home to Utah. This past week however he did fly back, not only for the holidays, but to help give his brother John a commission as a second lieutenant after he graduated from Southern Utah University.
In the ceremony the sergeant gave his younger brother, now a second lieutenant his first salute.
Lieutenant Kollar will soon head to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas for his officer basic course.
Sergeant Kollar will spend the next few months in Italy and then will be sent to Afghanistan in March.
