Donald Rich
NINE MILE/VERNAL – Donald Dean “Stoney” Rich, age 68 of Vernal, passed away Oct. 31, 2004.
He as born Aug. 31, 1936 in Vernal to Thorald and Lucille Rich and was the third child out of seven. He married Carol Rae Pummell Dec. 26, 1957 and later had 13 children
He spent his childhood years among the quiet folk and picturesque vistas of Nine Mile Canyon. As a young adult, he moved to Vernal, where he met his future bride.
Don worked for several mining and heavy equipment companies over the next 40 plus years, the last 20 with Zeigler Chemical Co., retiring as a mine foreman at the age of 62.
Don was a true outdoorsman and loved chasing wild horses, hunting, camping and four-wheeling. His more serious pursuits included the owning and care of championship caliber race horses as well as competing on the pro rodeo tour.
Along with his eclectic interests, Don was a true family man who loved to spend time with his children and to teach them the meaning of words such as respect, hard work and humility.
He will most be remembered for his roles as loving husband, father and grandfather as well as counselor and teacher.
Don is survived by wife, Carol Rae Rich; children, Boyd (Lila), Independence; JerolDean (Dan) Jackson; Wade (Marilyn), CarolAnn (Terry) Jablonski, Dennice (Dave) Mollner, St. George; Teresa (Junior) Tripp, Rita (Cody) Briston, Stacy (Ben) Harvey, Salt Lake City; Shelly (Mark) Mann, Hoisington, Kan.; Blake (Corrie), Duke (Meghann), Amber Rich, Andrew (Britni); sisters and brothers, Norma (Gerold) Dalton, Wilma (sister-in-law), Bus (Roanna), Kurt (Donnetta), Evelyn (Jim) Oldham and Hugh (Bonnie). In addition to Don’s extensive nuclear family, he has 44 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by parents, Thorald and Lucille Rich; grandson, Rich W. Tripp; brother, Earl; and sister-in-law, Jeanine.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 6, 11 a.m., at the Naples LDS Chapel in Vernal. Friends and family may call Friday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial, Vernal Memorial Park.
Zella Pizzuto
PRICE – Zella Addley Pizzuto, age 90, died Nov. 2, 2004 at her home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1913 in Price, the daughter of Elmer and Lorean Warren Addley. Married James “Jim” Pizzuto in 1938 in Castle Dale. He died Sept. 5, 1993.
Member of the LDS Church.
She was a lifelong resident of Price, where she owned and operated Zella’s Beauty Shop. Zella was the oldest beautician in Carbon-Emery County, where she worked until she was 80 years of age.
She was always concerned and appreciative of her many friends.
I have been so lucky to have known so many extra special people. For those still here, I’ll see you later.

She is survived by children, David (Sylvia) Pizzuto, Alaska; Eugene Pizzuto, Castle Dale; Cecelia Moore, Price; Natalena Pizzuto, West Jordan; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; brother, Darr Addley, Altamont.
Funeral service Friday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
