Lenard Brown
ORANGEVILLE – Lenard Douglas Brown died at home peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family on Oct. 30, 2004.
Born Dec. 1, 1924 to John William and Minnie Hall Brown in Huntington. He married LaRee Sitterud Sept. 16, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Lenard dropped out of school to join the U.S. Marines in 1942. He served with the First Marine Parachute Regiment in the Solomon Islands and other South Pacific Islands. He then became part of the Fifth Marine Division where he was one of the first men to land on the island of Iwo Jima. He always took solemn pride in the knowledge that the 26th he served with had the dubious distinction of suffering the highest casualty rate of any American company (98 percent) since Pickett’s charge in the Civil War. He was one of the few survivors of the 26th paratroops to leave the island 36 days later. He knew and served with every one of the men who raised the U.S. flag on Iwo Jima. He was proud to be one of those “Few Good Men.”
He served as counselor and president of the elders quorum, Sunday School teacher and served in the presidency of three Sunday Schools.
He worked in various coal mines in Carbon and Emery counties and was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America.
For nearly 30 years, he sold mining and construction equipment throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada and Mexico.
Lenard loved and enjoyed life and went out of his way to help others do the same. He had the ability to make others feel loved and appreciated. It was easy for him to say, “Thanks, I appreciated that.”
Although there were many clouds in his life, he had that special trait to always see the silver lining.
He will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor and his reputation of fair play and honest dealings.
Lenard loved spending time with his family. They were his greatest source of pride and joy. He enjoyed traveling, reading and watching the Discovery, Learning and History channels on television.
Lenard always kept in touch with friends and family by letters and phone calls.
In his 70s, Lenard became proficient on the computer and his letters became more frequent and, with e-mail, more timely. He completed an extensive family history and stories covering four generations – a priceless treasure for his family, present and future.
He loved visiting with his friends and neighbors He took great pride in caring for his yard. He greatly loved his family and was proud of all their endeavors.
Lenard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, LaRee; daughters, Mrs. Jay (Linda) Anglin of Highland, Md.; Mrs. Craig (Noreen) Schvaneveldt of Providence; Mrs. Bill (Kathy) Jensen, Larry (Sandra), Mrs. Rod (Diane) Carter, all of Orangeville; and David Jon (Paula) of Rock Springs, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers, Leon of Tooele; Steve of Loa; and sister, Pat Harris of Gaithersburg, Md. Preceded in death by parents; two daughters, Barbara and Carolyn; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m., at the Orangeville 1st LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Orangeville Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Michael Pessetto
PRICE – God saw the road was getting rough and hills were hard to climb. And he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine.”
Richard Michael Pessetto, age 45, passed away Oct. 26, 2004.
He was born March 20, 1959 in Price to Richard and Agnes Karterakis Pessetto.
He was a gentle, kind man who believed in God and will be greatly missed by those who truly knew his heart.
Survived by two sons, Chad, residing in Roswell, N.M., attending military school; and Michael (Kiyoe), attending college in Rock Springs, Wyo.; sister, Connie (Kirt) Marsing, Price; and mother, Agnes Peirce. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Wayne; and father, Richard Pessetto.
Funeral service was Oct. 30, Mitchell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Carbon County Humane Society.
Lucille Grant
UPALCO – Lucille Josephine Ogzewalla Grant, age 82, died Oct. 30, 2004 at her home in Duchesne County.
She was born Jan. 13, 1923 in Rigby, Idaho, to Charles and Matilda Ogzewalla. She married Horace J. Grant April 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Aug. 7, 1997.
She is survived by 11 children, 52 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a sister.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 3, 11 a.m., at the Altamont LDS Stake Center. Friends and family may call at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 E. 300 North, Roosevelt, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Roosevelt Memorial Park.
Tony Moore
PRICE – Tony Richard Moore, “Slik,” age 18, passed away Oct. 31, 2004.
Born Feb. 12, 1986 in Salt Lake City to Rick and Judy Salazar Moore.
He was loved deeply by all his family and friends.
Tony was a very creative young man and there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was the puzzle piece that always seemed to fit one way or another into the hearts of everybody he came across.
He had the biggest heart imaginable and would stop at nothing to make everybody’s life the best it could be.
Tony will be incredibly missed and loved by everyone that he came across.
Survived by parents, Rick “Pops” Moore, Judy “Moms” Moore; three brothers, Lorenzo “Ren Dawg” Manzanares, Carlos “Loc” Manzanares, and Ricky “Rok” Moore; his nephew whom he loved like his own; his godson and namesake Antwon “Tuey” Manzanares.
The family greatly appreciates the support and faith from a loyal man, Dave Donaldson, whom Tony really respected. Special thanks to Taylor Black, Ron Mervis, Della, Lacy, Chantelle, Deanna, Tim, Linda, Chase, and Adam as well as many others. “We will love you forever boy”. “I love you kid, Love Pops”. Preceded in death by grandparents.

J. Brent Mabrito
HELPER – John Brent Mabrito, age 66, died Oct. 30, 2004 in Price.
He was born Sept. 7, 1938 in Price to John Batista and Carolyn Corsetti Mabrito.
J. Brent was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He attended College of Eastern Utah and Weber State University.
He loved languages, and fluently spoke Spanish, German, Russian and French.
He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survived by sister, Tammy M. (Glenn K.) Stastny, Salt Lake; nephews, John Stastny, Logandale, Nev.; James Stastny, San Bernardino, Calif.; and Lt. J.G. Joseph Stastny, San Diego, Calif. Preceded in death by parents.
Vigil service Friday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Memorial Mass Tuesday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.

Cora Bradley
PRICE – Cora O. Bradley, age 78, passed away Oct. 29, 2004.
She was born April 27, 1926 in Roosevelt to Clifford Clark and Olive L. Russell Lee. She married Charles R. Bradley Nov. 24, 1967 in Denver, Colo.
Cora is survived by husband, Charles of Price; stepchildren, Loretta (Charles) Seimatz and David Lewis of Kansas. Also survived by brothers, Blake (Cora) Lee and Arthur Lee; sisters, Dorothy (Reed) Livingston, Kenna (Marvin) Mutz, Jessie (Tim) Peterson; and sister-in-law, Margie Lee. She was preceded in death by brothers, Clark and Harrison Lee; and sisters, Thelma Atwood and Shirley Duran.
Graveside services were Nov. 1, in the Cliffview Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Brecken Haddock
PRICE – Brecken Booth Haddock, our baby boy, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, after a brief stay with his family.
Brecken was joyously welcomed into the world on Oct. 14, 2004 by his parents, Jared and Paige Haddock, and brought a special spirit to his family. This baby boy touched many lives in his short time here on earth.
Brecken is survived by parents; sister, Emma; grandparents, Douglas and Robynn Fausett of Price; Kent and Denise Haddock of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Haddock, Mrs. Darlene Booth, Dee and Carol Fausett, Ron and Lou Wadsworth and the late Ted Peterson. Brecken is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1 p.m., at the Price LDS Stake Center, 150 South 500 East. Family will be at the church one hour prior to services. Burial, Grames Powell Cemetery, Price, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
