Residents of Carbon and Emery Counties will soon benefit from a $2,000 donation from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning to the United Way of Southeastern Utah. The funding was provided as a part of PacifiCorp’s “Spirit of Excellence” program.
The Spirit of Excellence program recognizes individual PacifiCorp employees and project teams for outstanding achievements, on an annual basis. Spirit of Excellence award winners are given the opportunity to designate a non-profit organization to receive funding from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning.
The “Automated Soot Blowing Team,” made up of employees of PacifiCorp’s Hunter Power Plant, in Castle Dale, selected United Way as a funding recipient. Members of the Automated Soot Blowing Team include Ned Brady, W.K. Clark, Ken Gilbert, Keven Mason, Ed Terry and Danny Velasquez.
Foundation representative Gary Oliver presented a $2,000 check to United Way of Southeastern Utah Director Pamela Juliano, at a Carbon County Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Oct. 21. Juliano says the funding will assist with United Way’s “Warm Kids” and “Angel Tree” programs.
“More than 1,000 children in Carbon and Emery counties benefit from our Angel Tree program,” said Juliano. “This donation will help cover the costs of assisting these children and will also provide money to keep people warm this winter, through coat vouchers we distribute.”
