Goodrich three seconds short of first place finish

Paul Goodrich tries to overtake a competitor during Tuesday’s Emery meet in Ferron. Goodrich finished in third place, three seconds behind the race winner and one second behind the second place runner.

After 16 minutes and 28 seconds, the first male runner crossed the finish line in Emery’s cross country meet in Ferron.
Two more runners would cross the line in the next three seconds.
Carbon sophomore running machine Paul Goodrich was the close third finisher of the race, with the second place Lehi runner finishing one second better than his time of 16:31.
The Carbon boys would take third place honors overall with David Goodrich taking fourth place, Teddy Prettyman in 19th and Kent Olsen in 21st.
The Lehi boys team took first place while Emery captured second place.
The Carbon girls team had several top 10 finishes, leading them to first place honors as a team for the day.
Paige Morley lead the Lady Dino pack in fifth place, followed by Brittany Horrocks in seventh, Ashley Anderson in eighth, Katie Hobbs in ninth and Jana Burrows in 17th.
Emery High took second place by one point with a team point score of 28.
The next cross country meet will take place at Carbon High on Oct. 5. The race will begin at 3:30 p.m. behind the high school.
