Carbon High football took a 67-19 loss to Lehi on Friday at home. However, Friday’s game was likely the last time the two teams will meet as Region 8 foes unless Carbon can turn the football season around in its final four games and meet Lehi in the playoffs. Lehi will be reclassified as a 4A school as of the 2005-2006 school year, making room in Region 8 for fresh teams. Current 3A team Granite High and soon to be 3A school Juan Diego will be the newest additions to Region 8, narrowing the gap in student enrollment between the region teams. Meanwhile, according to head coach Lane Herrick, the Carbon High football team will continue to overcome losses as the young players gain experience and confidence on the field. Injuries have plagued the squad this season and the Dinos have already rotated through seven different quarterbacks. Carbon will face the Emery Spartans on Oct. 1, followed by the Homecoming football game against Ogden on Oct. 8. Herrick projects that the team has already seen its toughest matchups and should have a strong showing against both Emery and Ogden.
