Halee Rasmussen and Maquette Potts join in a tandam attack on Emery with the help of Carbon setter Monica Shorts. Emery was unable to keep pace with the dominating Lady Dinos, losing in three straight games.

A flutter of resistance in the third game of the match was not enough to deter the Lady Dinos from their course.
Thursday night’s home match against Carbon High’s rivals the Lady Spartans of Emery went into the books the same way most of Carbon’s volleyball matches do: without a loss. Final scores were 25-13, 25-12 and 25-20.
“I thought Emery was gonna do a little better than that,” head coach Bruce Bean commented. “They’re athletic and I don’t think we saw the best of Emery.”
However, Bean said that when his team gets into the right groove, they can make a stronger team look weak.
Setter Monica Shorts guided the team with 35 assists while teammates Morgan Warburton and Jamie King were able to effectively put the ball away with 20 kills between them.
Carbon is 5-0 on the season, with two region wins. The Dinos will host North Sanete Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m., looking to overthrow the only unbeaten team in Region 8.
North Sanpete is the defending 3A state championship team and is currently 7-3 on the season.
