The Stanford Achievement Tests have been replaced in Utah by the Iowa Tests of Educational Development. This is the first year the local school district has administered the ITED tests to grades one, three, five and eight as well as to the juniors at Carbon High School.
According to Carbon High counselor Melissa Swenson, the new tests compare how local students stack up against other pupils in the state core curriculum.
Carbon High will administer the Iowa Test of Educational Development to juniors on Sept. 28, Sept. 29 and Sept. 30. The timed test is required by the state office of education for all 11th graders. Testing will begin promptly at 8:27 a.m. Students who are absent on any of the days will be pulled from other classes to make up the missed sections of the test.
Sophomores and seniors will begin school on the three days at 10:07 a.m. Buses will run on the usual schedules. Students who arrive early or who are bused may go to the cafeteria, library, gym or the CHS Grand Canyon hall.
