On Sept. 3, Carbon Metro Drug Task Force authorities arrested an on-duty Price employee for allegedly distributing a controlled substance while operating a city vehicle.
Addressing the matter during an interview on Wednesday, Police Capt. Kevin Drolc confirmed that drug task force agents Chad Feichko and Kyle Kulow booked 59-year-old Jessie Gonzales Medina into the Carbon County Jail on the second degree felony level charge after the suspect reportedly exchanged a prescribed pain medication for cash last Friday.
The alleged drug trafficking incident occurred Sept. 3 at approximately 8:50 a.m. at a location near 400 East and 300 North in Price.
Acting on information from a confidential source regarding a pending drug deal, task force officials monitored the situation and arrested Medina after the Price employee purportedly exchanged Percocet for cash while occupying the city vehicle, indicated Drolc.
Immediately following the alleged drugs-for-money exchange, task force officers arrested Medina and the individual who purportedly unlawfully purchased the prescribed pain medication, 41-year-old Price resident Mary Daugherty.
Drug task force investigators Feichko and Kulow booked the two suspects into the county jail on second degree felony distributing/arranging the distribution of a controlled substance offenses at 9:05 a.m. last Friday.
Medina and Daugherty remained incarcerated at the local correctional facility on Wednesday afternoon, with bail fixed at $20,000 on the second degree felony distribution of a controlled substance counts.
Discussing the results of an unrelated drug investigation on Aug. 26, Drolc explained that three city employees retrieved the bag and contacted local law enforcement authorities with a description of the motorcycle in question.
Criminal investigators traced the motorcycle after determining that the bag contained a suspected controlled substance – methamphetamine, pointed out the Price police captain. The investigation into the alleged illicit drug incident culminated with the arrest of Shane Victor Sailors. Law enforcement authorities booked the 21-year-old Price resident into the county jail on one second degree felony level unlawful possession of/with intent to distribute a controlled substance charge following the Aug. 26 incident.
“It makes our job easier when citizens report suspicious activity and cooperate with criminal investigations,” indicated Drolc. “It is greatly appreciated and helps get drugs off the streets in Carbon County.
