The Carbon County Travel Bureau and the Castle Country Travel Region launched their new website on Tuesday, August 31.
In January of this year, the agency, along with local businesses met to discuss a redesign of the original website of castlecountry.com. Many ideas and thoughts came from the group. Sub committees were formed and were assigned different tasks.
While some volunteers worked on collecting photos, others worked on meta links and meta tag development. Others worked on revising the text while others worked on mapping. From these efforts the group realized they wanted a new and fresh look to their web site. They had made subtle changes over the years offering new photos, text and making changes often to events, accommodations, guides and outfitters. According to Kathy Hanna Smith, tourism executive, the industry is very competitive and with all the tourism opportunities being offered, they needed to be able to compete on that level. “It was time we invested money and time into a new look,” she says.
In April of this year they hired local consultant, Renee Banasky. She put in hundreds of hours gathering over 400 photos, along with 19 slide shows that showcase the many recreational and destination opportunities in the Castle Country tourism area. In addition, making contacts with local guides and outfitters, entertainment providers, state parks, national scenic byways coordinators and many more to gather additional information to make the site complete. Over 100 original pages are now found on the new site not including duplicate resource pages. There are many listed links that will take the information seeker to many local web sites.
Utah.com out of Utah County has hosted our site since the inception. Utah.com specializes in internet marketing and website development. They are the leaders in web design specializing in travel and tourism opportunities. They host the official tourism site for the State of Utah tourism office. They pride themselves in being the leader in tourism promotion through the internet and have aligned themselves with State of Utah Travel regions, golf, ski, bike, state and national parks, accommodations, guides and outfitters.
With everything considered, hundreds and hundreds of hours have gone into the development of this new site that will promote Castle Country to the world. “We hope the local area will be pleased with the new site,” says Smith.
