The College of Eastern Utah’s Prehistoric Museum is the educational gem of the Canyonlands recreational area. Exhibits document the rich paleontological and archeological history of the San Rafael Swell.
Lose yourself for a moment in “deep time” exploring the worlds of ancient Utah. Featured in the Hall of Dinosaurs are true Jurassic Park dinosaurs that come from the nearby Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry and eight marvelous and scientifically important dinosaurs from the Lower Cretaceous sediments along the Swell from Ferron to Moab.
See the original raptor of Jurassic Park, Utahraptor, and understand the need for its vicious claws while seeing the armoured dinosaurs that were its prey. If you are more adventurous, the museum will be running a Dino Adventure during the first week of August for adults interested in digging dinosaurs with the professional staff at the museum.

Make a point of seeing the magnificent 1000 year old clay Fremont figurines and ponder their significance to their creators. In addition, the Hall of Man exhibits the animals of the last Ice Age featuring the 11,000 year old Huntington Mammoth discovered near the top of nearby Huntington Canyon.
