Virl Winder
PRICE – Virl Evert Winder, age 94, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Price.
Virl was born April 26, 1910 in Desert Lake to Charles William and Caroline Elizabeth Mills Winder. He was raised in the Desert Lake and Cedar Mountain areas. He attended school in Desert Lake, Victor and Cleveland. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He married Thelma Black from Blanding on March 13, 1932. Their first home was in Desert Lake in 1934. In 1942, they moved to Price, where he worked as a mechanic. They moved to Elmo in 1948. Thelma passed away Sept. 20, 1986.
Virl was a sheepherder, farmer, rancher, cattleman and mechanic. He was the presiding justice of the peace in Elmo for five years. He retired from the Lion Coal Co. at Wattis after 18 years as a tipple mechanic. He then worked for the Val Jensen Farm Equipment Shop in Cleveland and Huntington for several years and did custom farm work.
Virl had been recognized for his service in improving land grazing, water improvement and fencing improvements. He was a former president of the Buckhorn Cattleman Association and a former board member of the Huntington-Cleveland Irrigation Company.
Virl’s hobbies were work and family.
Virl is survived by children, Evert William (Gloria), Price; Emma LaRae (Louis, deceased); Weber and Dorothy Elaine and John Junior of Elmo; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Phillip (Viola) Winder, Ada Marie Willson of Elmo, Zina Tabor of Price and Harold (May) Winder, LaVan Dale (Lou) Winder of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, four children, parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be July 1 at the Elmo LDS Chapel at 11 a.m. Family will be at the chapel Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Victor Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Ryker Houskeeper
PRICE-Ryker Brent Houskeeper passed away June 24, 2004, in Price.
He was born March 29, 2004, in Price to Chelly Kayrene Houskeeper.
My little Ryker, my very own angel for such a short time. You taught me a lot with your cute smile. Your eyes of blue seem to say I already knew you.
You will be deeply missed, but in our hearts forever.
Survived by his mother, Chelly Houskeeper; brother Donaven; grandparents Gary and Kayrene Houskeeper, Joe and Janet Maestas; aunt Tiffiny Houskeeper, Moab; uncles, Bary Houskeeper and Brian Houskeeper, Price; little aunt, Kaylee; great-grandparents Ben and Renee Black-burn, Kent and Helen Hous-keeper; a special sister and aunt to Ryker, Heather Marrelli; uncle Kaylab; dear friends, Jennifer Naylor and kids, Anthony and Jerry Dickson. Also survived by many great aunts, uncles and friends.
We love you and will miss you, Ryker.
Funeral services were June 28 at the Price 7th/8th LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Wellington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Buddy Christensen
PRICE – Buddy Lee Christ-ensen, son of Thomas “Bud” and Lena Christensen, passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2004.
He was born April 30, 1953 in Kenilworth and grew up in Price.
Buddy joined the Army when he was 17. He was proud to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He made his living remodeling homes.
He loved fishing and hunting and most of all he loved his family. He raised a stepdaughter, Cissy, and her son, Colton Allred was the light of his life.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas “Bud” and Lena Christ-ensen of Price; sister, Karen and Kirk Sitterud of Orangeville; brothers, Clarence Christensen of Price, Dennis Christensen of Price, Leslie Christensen of Craig, Colo., Jerry Christensen of Price, Gary and Lorraine Christensen of West Valley City; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 1, at 3 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Full military honors will be given at the graveside services on July 8 at 10 a.m. at the Price City Cemetery.
Robert Colzani
PRICE – Robert “Bob” Colzani was born Oct. 4, 1934 in Price to John Colzani and Margaret Mary Boland Colzani. He died Jan. 19, 2003 in Nome, Alaska.
Bob attended grade school and junior high school at Notre Dame School in Price.
He attended Abbey High School in Canon City, Colo., and graduated in 1952.
Bob graduated from Notre Dame University in 1956 with a degree in business.
He served with the Armed Services in Germany during 1956 to 1958 and left with an honorable discharge.
Bob worked in the sporting goods industry in Salt Lake City and Denver, Colo. He owned and operated GE air-conditioning business in San Diego, Calif., and also was a real estate developer. He ventured into the gold mining business in Nome, Alaska, and the construction business in Thailand.
Bob has no living relatives.
Graveside services were June 26 at Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Hazel Jones
NEPHI – Hazel Maurine Ingram Bean Jones, 90, died June 26, 2004 at the Castle Country Care Center in Price. She had lived a full life.
She was an only child born Sept. 10, 1913 in Nephi to Mary Bean and Samuel Edward Ingram. She lived in Nephi for 83 years before leaving for health reasons. She married Meryl Eugene Bean June 14, 1937 in Nephi, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He later died in 1951. In 1956, she married Bert T. Jones, who later passed away in 1987.
Hazel was a faithful member of the LDS Church, where she served in many callings. Her greatest love in life was genealogy, handwork, reading and flower gardens. Her best accomplishment was being a good mother.
Hazel is survived by her three children, Sharon Hunt of West Valley, Mary Franks of Salt Lake and Grant (Kathy) Bean of East Carbon; stepchildren Ted (Donna) Jones of Nephi and Marie (Wayne) Bostwick of Nevada; nine grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, sons-in-law George Hunt and Berry Franks; stepson, Don Jones; a granddaughter, DelRay Bean; and a great-granddaughter Ashley Horrocks.
Graveside services will be June 29 at 11 a.m. in the Nephi City Cemetery, 400 North 400 East, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
