Doug Easton
PRICE – Claude Douglas Easton, age 71, died May 25, 2004 at his home in Miller Creek.
He was born Dec. 31, 1932 in Price to Albert James and Laura Marsing Easton. He married Lola Mae Miller Marsing on April 3, 1976 in Ely, Nev.
Doug joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He was an S-Sgt. (T) with the 99th Tac Hospital (SAC). He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
Doug was a member of the VFW Miners Post 2379, the Price Elks Lodge 1550 and the LDS Church.
Doug was a lifelong farmer who carried the reputation of once being the best sugar beet framer in the county. He enjoyed family fishing trips during the years and was a good dancer. He also bowled and shot pool on several leagues throughout his life, and he was good at both sports. He especially loved his black Labradors, all three named “Ernie.”
Doug played football for Carbon College and was also a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.
He will be missed and remembered by all of the people who knew him.
Doug is survived by his wife, Carbonville; one sister, Donna Christensen, Orofino, Idaho; his nephews, Kip (Glenna) Cotner, Ferron; Todd Douglas (Cyndie) Christen-sen, Orofino, Idaho; Kevin (Kayleen) Cotner, Miller Creek; several great- and great-great- nieces and nephews; stepdaughter, Ann Kay Marsing, Price; four step-grandsons, Tony, Chris, Brian and Steve Archibald and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and D.D. (Jack) Cotner.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 2, 11 a.m. at Cliffview Cemetery in Price, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
