Ribbon cuttings, Business After Hours, luncheon top Chamber’s monthly activities

Ken Larson, Chamber president, is presenting Jeff Manley with a plaque honoring him and Castleview Hospital as the business of the Year. The award was presented at the annual banquet but Manley was unable to accept it. The honor was presented to Manley and the hospital for his incredible service to the community and the chamber. Manley has been instramental in the reorganization of the organization. The presentation was held at Castleview Hosptial with community leaders, hospital staff and board members, along with friends and family present.

The newly reorganized Carbon county Chamber of Commerce had a busy month in April launching their first ever business after hours at the Sun Advocate. hosting a marketing and advertising specialist, Doc Croucher, from San Diego and holding their monthly luncheon. The luncheon featured Wilson Martin who spoke to the group on the growing theme of heritage tourism. In addition to these gatherings the group welcomed three new businesses or agencies into the community. Ribbons were cut at 2 Brothers Communication, Foster Grandparents, and Off Broadway.
The next business after hours is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 at Southeast Paint and Wallcovering beginning at 5 p.m. It will be hosted by Ed and Wilma Howa. The gathering is open to the public and gives businesses a chance to visit with other business people in the community. The Chamber has continued to grow since February and Wednesday the board l;aunched a new membership drive targeting 50 businesses in the community to join the chamber.
