Carbon held its final home meet of the year on Tuesday. The day started out to be cold and windy with a few rain drops. It finished with the sun coming out to make it a nice day for a track meet.
Melanie Madsen started things off in the 3200 meter run. Three girls ran together for the first six laps. Finally with two laps to go Madsen and the runner from Pleasant Grove pulled away from the 3rd girl. In the last 200 yards. Melanie lost contact and won the 3200 meter run. Elizabeth Brooks took fourth place with Brittany Horrocks in sixth in the 3200 meter run. Madsen also placed third in the 1600 meter run.
Amie Stewart and Danielle Martino had a great day, as both girls qualified for state in the longjump. Amie took third with ajump, of 15’10”, and Danielle in 5th with a jump of 15’7″.
In the high jump event Carbons Maquette Potts took second with Martino, Stewart and Andraya Newby tying for fifth place.
In the 100 meter dash Martino placed third. In the 400 meters Danielle Olsen and Mikaleen Loveless tied for sixth
In the 100 meter hurdles Amie Stewart received fifth place with sister Allie Stewart in sixth
Lisa Ulugia place fifth in the shot put and fourth place in the javelin events. In the boys events Jordan Rowley place fourth in the long jump, Todd Hicken fifth in the high jump.
Jacob Burrows placed third in the 400 meter run with a time 54.22.
Paul Goodrich placed fifth in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 11: 18.64.
Bryan Stewart received second in the 110 meter hurdles and second in the 300 meter hurdles.
In the shot put Dustin Hurst placed second, with Josh Goodwin placing fifth in the event. Hurst also placed fifth in the discus event.
In the javelin event Josh Goodwin placed second and Randy Jones placed third.
The next meet Carbon will participate in will be a freshman -sophomore meet on April 22 at Delta. This will be followed by a qualifying meet at Richfield on April 24.
