With the overwhelming obligations of the spring semester, a limited Carbon track team attended the April 14 region track meet at North Sanpete High.
However, the limited number of athletes seemed to carry the load of an entire team. Carbon won many events and took several of the top positions.
In the throwing events, Dustin Hurst placed first in the boys shot put and took fifth in the discus. Josh Goodwin had a second place finish in the javelin with a distance of 159’3″. Randy Jones followed in third.
Bryan Stewart led the boys hurdles. According to coach Stewart Foster, he handily defeated all of the competition.
Todd Hicken took second in the boys 400 meter and beat his best jump by four inches to place third in the high jump.
Jacob Burrows placed second in the 800 meter run.
In the girls events, Allie Stewart placed first in the high jump and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Danielle Martino finished second in the high jump and long jump and had a third place time in the 1000 meter.
Lisa Ulugia was awarded in all three throwing events, finishing first in the shot put and third in both the javelin and discus.
Melanie Madsen placed first in the 1600 meter run and fifth in the 800 meters.
Carbon will host an interschool qualifying meet today at Carbon High. Ten area teams will be attending the meet, which begins at 3:30 p.m.
