Sherry King, registered nurse at Castleview Hospital, was honored last week as the recipient of the 2004 Mercy Award.
This honor places King in nomination for LifePoint’s 2004 Mercy Award, the highest honor an employee can earn with LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., the parent company of Castleview Hospital.
Sherry, along with her family, were honored at a reception at the hospital cafeteria Thursday, April 1. Besides her nursing responsibilities in the chemotherapy she also assists in same-day surgery. She schedules and assists in the pain clinic and specializes in PICC lines.
In nominating Sherry for this honor, one nomination says, “from personal experience, what a truly kind and compassionate person she is. It is a very frightening thing to be told that you have cancer and I am so grateful that Castleview Hospital has such a skilled nurse to educate and care for our patients in such a positive and loving manner. I have been on the receiving end of such care and have seen Sherry caring for countless others in countless ways. She appears to have endless energy in all that she does, from her involvement in Relay For Life, top her taking care of her animals, to her baking and knitting. Our entire community is fortunate to have Sherry as a dedicated member.”
The Mercy Award was created to honor outstanding individuals for their commitment to LifePoint’s high standards of excellence. The Mercy Award is given annually in honor of Scott L. Mercy (1961 – 2000), founding chief executive officer of LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. This award commends individuals whose daily dedication and care giving inspires others with their compassion, dedication and merciful spirit. The winner will be honored in June at a ceremony during LifePoint Hospitals’ Senior Leadership Retreat in Nashville, Tenn.
