Carbon County Relay for Life – is being held on June18th and 19th at Carbon High School Track. We need you to sign up your team, please contact Nancy Boyle at 637-3320 for sign up and information about this event.
Humane Society Rummage Sale – Donations are being collected for the Carbon County Humane Society’s Rummage Sale. If you wish to donate items please contact 637-2908 or 637-2208. All donations are tax exempt.
Alternative Rock at CEU – The alternative rock band Paradigm will be performing at CEU on Thursday, April 15 in the CEU Student Center. The show begins at 8 p.m. and is free of charge. Paradigm is a Sacramento-based alternative rock band.
Free Movie Madness – will be held April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the United Way Office, behind Zion’s Bank. Children under 6 need to be accompanied by an adult. Treats will be available for purchase. Questions or concerns please call 637-8911.
Emery County Men’s and Women’s Softball – Registrations are being held for both Men’s and Women’s Softball leagues in Emery County. Register at the Emery County Recreation office, 75 S. 400 East in Castle Dale by May 17, 2004. All fees MUST be paid at time of registration. Is your child ready to ride? Utah State Parks and Recreation offers the Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Education Certificate Classes. These classes are aimed at youth ages 8 to 16 who operate ATV’s and Motorbikes. Class certification makes your child legal to drive on public lands, trails and roads.Classes are being offered in Carbon County March 24th, April 6th & 24th. .Please call to sign your child up. Teacher of the Year – Honor a reacher with a nomination for the Crystal Apple/Southeastern Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by Emery Telcom. Helper City Spring Cleanup 2004 – Spring Cleanup for residents of Helper City will be in effect the last two weeks of April. City crews will pick up branches, shrubs, etc. only. No furniture or appliances, etc. Branches must be cut in 4′ lengths and stacked off the road and sidewalk so they will not be in the way until pickup.

Story and Craft Hour- C.E.U. Museum will be holding a children’s Story and Craft Hour every first and third Friday of the month at 2:00 pm in the Museum’s Discovery Room. Please call the Museum at 613-5754 if you have any questions.
Casa Volunteers Needed – Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Defensive Driving Classes – The Utah Safety Council is now offering a four-hour defensive driving course for individuals in the Price area. The course will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the College of Eastern Utah Student Center Board Room #127, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Drivers may complete the course for a 50 point reduction from their Utah driving record. Registration is $35 per person, or $10 for those age 55 and over that are only seeking a reduction in their insurance rate. Foster Grandparents – Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 20 hours per week in local schools, and receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and transportation to and from the school. Food Handler’s Classes – There will be Food Handler’s Classes taught in Price Mar 24 at 9 a.m, 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah District health Department. Classes will be taught in Castle Dale March 25 at 4 p.m and 7 p.m. at the Health Department located at 25 W. Main St. The Classes will be two hours in length and the cost is $10.00 to take the test. Frontier Project – Local Family Support Group. R.O.A.R. will be meeting every third Thursday in Carbon County. Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 10 North 200 East. Carbon County Animal Services – Residents are encouraged to bring recycled newspapers and aluminum to the office at 3360 S. 225 West, Price. Donations will be used for homeless pets.

Parenting for teens – The Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. The first group will assist on various committees and help make our 10th anniversary our best Festival ever.
