College of Eastern Utah fell just short of sweeping the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans in back-to-back double headers Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Eagles took the first game 7-1 and followed it up with a 4-3 win.
The pair of wins were the first conference victories for the team this season.
The next day, the Eagles had a late-game comeback after entering the seventh inning behind 3-4.
CEU took game three 5-4.
The streak was broken in game four, though.
According to head coach Scott Madsen, the team didn’t bat well and gave up too many runs to start the game.
Colorado closed the series with a 12-2 win.
Overall, CEU rises to 9-17. The Eagles are currently 3-9 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
“It was a good weekend,” Madsen stated. “We’re playing better as a team.”
The Eagles will continue the conference season against Salt Lake Community College on March 26 and 27.
