Emergency responders assist a victim injured in a March 19 accident on U.S. Highway 6. The mishap occurred at about 2:30 p.m. less than one half mile south of Soldiers Summit last Friday. According to Sgt. John Kelly of the Utah Highway Patrol, a southbound Toyota truck driven by Paul Pont, 32 of Layton, reportedly swerved off the highway to the right. Pont then apparently overcorrected and turned into the northbound traffic lanes, colliding with a Blazer driven by Darwin Mathis, 25 of Wellington. Both injured drivers had to be extricated from the vehicles and transported to Castleview Hospital for treatment. Only one lane of travel was open on U.S. 6 for more than an hour following the accident.
