Southeastern Utah District Health Department will conduct a mass vaccination clinic exercise on Saturday, March 20, at Creekview Elementary, 509 West 500 South, Price from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exercise will test the health department’s ability to conduct a mass vaccination clinic in response to a major disease outbreak, bioterror-ism event or other public health emergency.
Health department staff will provide, free of charge, Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and/or Twinrix (Hepatitis A/B combined) vaccinations to residents of Carbon, Emery, Grand or San Juan counties.
The vaccinations are for adults 18 years or older only. Supplies are limited and are on a first come-first serve basis. You must start the vaccination series on that day.
Terrie C. Wright, Emergency Response Coordinator for SEUDHD states, “This exercise will help us improve our ability to respond to any public health emergency in our community, and at the same time provide a much needed service to the adult population.”
“If you consider some of these vaccines are a two or three shot series, and the whole series will be free, the savings could be substantial.” Wright said.
The exercise is part of the health department’s bioterror-ism preparedness and emergency response program and is funded by a grant for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the Utah Department of Health.
