It was the event that set the stage for the next few months as the local Republican Central Committee hosted its annual Lincoln Day dinner last Saturday night at the college alumni room. Banners, brochures and yard signs were piled high as governor hopefuls introduced themselves to about 50 local republican leaders. Pictured above is County Republican Co-chair Woody Carter from Scofield along with Joe Cannon, keynote speaker from Orem. As the state party chairman, Cannon discussed the struggles with tradition against modern times. He said that there is a drastic division between the two parties this year. Candidates or representatives for the eight Republican candidates for governor were on hand along with several other state leaders.
