A Carbon County heavy equipment operator works to clear and prepare the construction site for a new hangar at the airport.
The facility will be located north of the main hangar at the airport.
County road department and construction crews discovered that preparing the site would involve more than moving dirt after encountering boulders buried beneath the surface. The boulders have complicated the ground preparation phase of the project.
The hangar will be the first new facility constructed at the county airport in years.
Economic development leaders hope the hangar will spur additional improvement projects at the Carbon County Airport.
The airport provides an ideal setting for air industry manufacturing and service, with a long runway and acres of ground on which to construct facilities.
