Carbon High divers place high in region, prepare for state Lyn’D Anderson and Michael Glasson recently took top honors in the region eight diving tournament.
Anderson placed fifth in the girls division in the Jan. 30 tournament at Bear River High.
Coach Stewart Foster said if Anderson can score high on at least eight of her 11 dives, she will likely finish high at the state tournament.
Glasson also qualified for the state tournament with a third place region finish in the boys division.
Glasson missed second place by 1.6 points.
The state diving championship will pit Glasson and Anderson against divers from all five classifications.
State will take place at Brigham Young University in Provo on Feb. 12.
The girls meet begins at 9 a.m. followed by the boys meet at noon.
Grand Junction, Colo. Ice Breaker softball tournament The “Ice Breaker”, an ISA sanctioned, adult slow-pitch softball tournament, will take place March 27 and 28 at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction.
There will be a three-game guarantee in the tournament and classes will include mens D, mens E and co-ed.
The deadline for entry is March 21.

New Carbon football coach named Lane Herrick has been named as the new Carbon High head football coach.
Herrick also coaches the boys baseball team and has been the assistant coach of the girls volleyball team.
Herrick will replace Jeff Jorgensen, who resigned the position after the 2003 season.
