Jean Arnold will be one of featured artists that will be showing her work at Gallery East this month. This monotype called “Mesquite 2” will be one of the pieces shown at the gallery.

An abstract art exhibit entitled “Transform, Notate, Accumulate” is slated to remain on display at the College of Eastern Utah’s Gallery East through Feb. 27.
The exhibit features the works of Jean Arnold, John Erickson and Linda Peer, three of Salt Lake City’s popular artists.
“This show is hip, very exciting. It’s all about the artists’ perceived sense of motion in urban landscapes as well as the inner condition,” explained gallery director Brent Haddock.
Oil on canvas, monotypes, sculptures and drawings comprise the abstract art exhibit, continued the gallery director.
The works of the artists capture the speed of motion, abstract dualities and playful metaphors of human lives and people’s inner conditions.
“We’re extremely lucky to have artists of this caliber willing to showcase their work here. Jean’s a good friend of mine,” commented Haddock.
Arnold, Erickson and Peer have been showcased in single-person and multi-artists exhibitions across the country, noted the gallery director.
Gallery East is currently housed in the college’s former student activity center on the CEU campus in Price. The building is located east of the college’s library.
“The improvements have been vast with the new location. Unfortunately, we’re off the beaten path,” noted Haddock.
The artists will discuss their works, motivation, symbolism and answer questions Feb. 6 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the gallery.
An opening reception is planned Feb. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gallery East.
Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For additional information, mail requests or to schedule an after-hours or group showing, Carbon County residents may contact Haddock at 613-5225.
Coming next month to CEU’s Gallery East is a one-man show by artist and Southern Utah University associate professor Brian Hoover.
The exhibit will run March 1 to March 31.
