On Jan. 15, 1967, Green Bay defeated Kansas City 35-10 at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles in the inaugural Super Bowl.
Green Bay’s three second-half touchdowns sealed the game for the first ever Super Bowl championship team.
The Chiefs scored all 10 points in the second quarter.
Every Packer received $15,000 and the Chiefs took home $7,500 a piece.
According to superbowl.com, it was the largest single game share ever paid in a team sport.
Tickets to first Super Bowl cost between $6 to $12. The bands of University of Arizona and University of Michigan provided the halftime and pregame entertainment.
Thirty second commercials cost $42,000 and the stadium did not even sell out.
The Super Bowl has come a long way.
For Super Bowl XXXVIII (that’s 38 for those who don’t read Roman numerals), the New England Patriots will face off against the Carolina Panthers.
The game will take place at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Feb. 1.
Tickets have been sold out for months and cost $400 when fans were lucky enough to obtain one in a random drawing.

It’s safe to say that the Super Bowl has grown in popularity.
The Super Bowl is the most watched program on television.
In fact, nine of the ten most-watched TV programs of all time were Super Bowls.
And according to the American Institute of Food Distribution, Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest day of food consumption during the year, behind only Thanksgiving.
FOXSports.com reports that the game is broadcast in 182 nations, which is 88 percent of the world’s countries, and over 800 million people worldwide watch the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl weekend is also the slowest weekend for weddings.
In the history of the game, San Francisco 49ers have the best winning percentage of 5-0.
The Dallas Cowboys have also won five times but have lost three Super Bowls.
No single game compares to the Super Bowl in viewers or dollars.
Although the Patriots are the favorites of the game, the Panthers will counter New England quarterback Tom Brady with one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.
Expect good old fashion football. The team that is going to win this game won’t have turnovers and will play good defense.
Panther quarterback Jake Delhomme will be the wild card of the game.
As a first year starter, the team has relied on his ability to make good decisions and limit mistakes.
Sunday will serve as his ultimate test.
Add in coaches Bill Belichick and John Fox, who both stress defense, and it should be a must-see game.
Kickoff time is 4:25 p.m. and the game airs on CBS.
