The Tintic Miners defeated East Carbon from the free throw line in the Vikings’ introductory region game of the season on Jan. 14.
Tintic made 21 of 35 free throws to East Carbon’s 4 of 10 and won the game 58-46.
The Vikings have not played a game since Dec. 17 and head coach Jeff Cisneros said the long layoff showed in the game.
Tintic outscored the Vikings every quarter, although the quarter point difference never exceeded four.
Andy Farlaino and Shane Wood led the team in scoring with 12 point each.
“We did some good things but our ability to run an offense and be aggressive is really hurting us right now,” Cisneros commented.
Tintic rises to 1-1 in region 18 while East Carbon drops to 0-1.
The Vikings will travel to Dugway tomorrow and host the Meridian Mongooses on Friday.
