In the team’s highest-scoring game of the season, East Carbon’s Lady Vikings were not able to bring home a victory against West Desert’s Hawks.
A second quarter drought cost the Vikings a win, as the Lady Hawks outscored the team 19-3 and took a 31-11 lead into the half.
East Carbon resurged in the second half, scoring 14 points in the third quarter and 15 in the fourth.
However, the 29 point addition was not enough to overcome the first half deficit.
West Desert took the game, 49-41.
Samantha Madrid lead the Vikings with 17 points. Nikole Larsen added eight, Bethany Hanson had six, Donna Turner and Raelyn Peak each contributed four and Amanda Hepworth chipped in two.
East Carbon drops to 0-4 in region 18 play with the loss.
West Desert moves to 3-1.
East Carbon will host Wasatch Academy today. Varsity gametime is 5:30 p.m.
