Editor:
Has anyone in or out of the Republican Party read the state party platform?
In the preamble it states, “We affirm freedom for every individual as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and protected by the Constitution.”
Private property: “We resist any effort by government to take private property without an overwhelming need for public use.”
Ethics and standards: “We demand honest, integrity, morality, and accountability of our public officials. We will work to expose and stop corruption.”
It also opposes placement of United States troops under foreign command, including the United Nations.
This is just part of the party platform that is violated and ignored by the Republicans.
We are facing the most critical time in the history of our nation. As stated by numerous citizens, the only growth in over two or three years has been budget deficits, trade deficits, national debt, personal debt, home foreclosures, bankruptcies, loss of manufacturing jobs, high unemployment and uncontrollable cost of prescription drugs. Also, the 3.47 percent increase in salaries of our senators, of which Hatch and Bennett voted to keep the raise.
Do you remember who lobbied for the banks and against the credit unions? What about the Dream Bill sponsored by Orrin Hatch and Chris Cannon to allow illegal aliens to attend college as U.S. citizens? And the bill by Hatch to reduce the time of a foreign-born to run for president? And the Patriot Bill by Hatch.
These and many other issues should be considered before voting. How can anyone ever think of a single-punch party vote?
