Defensively, Carbon High’s girls basketball team is towing the line.
According to coach Bruce Bean, the team is congealing on the other end of the court and shows a lot of intensity denying other teams.
However, the Dinos are struggling for offensive initiative. With junior Morgan Warburton threatening teams from all angles, the team is in need of other offensive sources to step forward when Warburton is neutralized.
“We’re just relying too much on Morgan,” Bean commented.
So far this season, Carbon has been able to muscle two out of three wins from opponents.
The Dinos defeated the Dixie Flyers at home with a final score of 41-40.
Carbon also easily subdued Union 64-32.
But, Cedar City was able to take advantage of Carbon’s low field goal and foul shot percentages.
Carbon averaged less than 40 percent from the charity stripe and less than 20 percent from the floor in the loss.
“We’ve got to find some chemistry but we’re still one of the best teams in the state,” Bean added.
The Dinos will have a heavy workload this week, with three home games against Spanish Fork, San Juan and Snow Canyon.
Bean said he expects San Juan to be a tough matchup. He added that the team will be working toward improving its shooting percentages and focus on not getting anxious with offense.
The Spanish Fork varsity game will begin at 7 p.m. today.
Carbon will host San Juan on Dec. 12 and Snow Canyon on Dec. 13.
