In a Ben Lomond tournament last weekend, the Carbon Dinos nabbed their first win of the season against St. Joseph to close out the tournament.
Senior Troy Grundy was named to the all-tournament team, an honor which coach Ted Bianco said was based on his consistant play all weekend.
Grundy scored in double digits both games and was a strong presence on both ends of the court.
Bianco said he was also pleased with the play of his other seniors, Zach Henseler and Bryan Stewart. Stewart lead the team with 18 points against St. Joseph and Henseler added 14 in the 57-52 win.
The team also made neccessary free throws in the final moments of the game to stop a St. Joe run.
According to Bianco, the team was not so successful with their shooting the night before, though.
In the opening game of the tournament, Ben Lomond beat the Dinos 57-45.
“We did not shoot the ball very well and they took it to us,” he commented.
Carbon was down 27 points going into the fourth quarter but was able to reduce the lead to 12 before the final buzzer sounded.
“It could have been a lot uglier than it was,” Bianco said.
The Dinos will return to their own gym Dec. 10 to host Grantsville.
