City Community Director Nick Tatton discusses the new BMX track with Neil Frandsen, the president of Nelco Inc., a general contracting business. The new track, which is currently under construction, is located just north of the high school and west of Terrace Hills Park. Frandsen is donating his equipment and time to level off the area in preparation for the track.
Money to fund the project, which is estimated to be around $47,500, is coming from the Restaurant Tax and is being handled through the city. Once the track is prepared, a registration and concession booth will be installed, along with a starting gate and announcers scoring area. The complex will include a power pole providing electricity for evening activities. Weather permitting, city officials are anticipating a spring opening.
