Castleview Hospital and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s diagnostic imaging department are sponsoring a Legs for Life screening to help evaluate where people are at risk for peripheral vascular disease. PVD is a common circulatory condition caused by a blockage in the blood vessels in the legs.
The screening is set for Oct. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Carbon County residents interested in particpating in the screening may schedule approintments by calling the hospital at 637-4800, extension 4822.
According to medical experts, early detection of PVD and other vascular diseases can prevent or lessen the risk of patients developing other health problems.
Symptoms of PVD often include aching, tiredness or cramping in the legs during walking or exercising that disappears after a few minutes of rest. Other symptoms include numbness and tingling in the lower legs and feet, coldness or ulcers or sores on the legs or feet that do not heal.
