Get into a healthy way of living

There’s no time like the present to get on a healthy track. This could involve visiting your physician, starting a new fitness routine or engaging in a sport or hobby.

Some people equate being healthy to being thin. However, a particular clothing size or number on the scale does not indicate ones health potential. A melange of different factors, including physical well-being, psychological balance and a good dose of activity or exercise all contribute to what is healthy. What better time is there than during the warm-weather months to turn over a new leaf and evaluate one’s health?
Maybe one is a couch or Internet potato? Someone who spends hours in front of the computer monitor surfing the Web? Perhaps citizens could use a little more time in the great outdoors. Take the pooch for a walk around the neighborhood; grab a rod and reel and head down to the pier for a little evening fishing; or do a couple of extra laps around the backyard. These are all simple ways to increase energy expenditure.
Some people who are in prime physical health inadvertently do things which endanger themselves, like mixing incompatible prescription and over-the-counter medications. Make sure a physician is aware of all medications that are being taken so that he or she can keep the patient out of danger. Also, consult a doctor anytime a drastic change in a health regimen is made, such as dieting.
Participating in a favorite sport is one of the easiest ways to jump start the activity level. Round up some buddies for a game of baseball in the park or tee-off on the links near the home. Weather and health seem to easily work hand-in-hand.
