Several of the area senior citizens came home with top honors from the 2003 Utah State Fair. Topping the list was Earl Marchello with his jams and jellies. Taking second place honors were ElNora Clark for her Indian maiden afghan, Mae Marchello for her crocheted tablecloth and crocheted Afghan and John Polito for his wooden carved boot. John Polito also placed third with his ceramic catfish painting.
The center will be opened Monday for Columbus Day. Seniors are reminded that the community preparedness fair is tonight, Thursday, Oct. 9 at St. Matthew’s Church.
Flu and pneumococcal shots will be given on Oct 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Senior Center. The October birthday party is set for the 22 and the Emery County Band will perform at the Price center at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30. The annual costume parade is set for 11:45 a.m., Oct. 31, in Price and 12:15 p.m., in East Carbon.
The Senior Center in Price has new hours, now opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 4 p.m. State funding caused the reduction in hours but according to executive director Viki Bowman, services will not change.
The annual bazaar is set for this Saturday, Oct. 11 beginning at 9 a.m. Perry Fry’s best-ever chili will be served and Lois Fossat promises divinity, fudge and pioche. Other baked goods will include pies, cookies, ethnic desserts, frosted donuts and Texas sheet cake. Besides the baked goods, the center will have silver and jewelry, ceramics, antiques, tole painted items, dried flowered arrangements, candles and crocheted quilts and afghans.
