Applications to hunt cougars on limited entry permit areas during Utah’s 2003-2004 season will be available beginning today, Sept. 30.
A total of 244 permits will be offered.
Applications will be available from hunting and fishing license agents statewide, Division of Wildlife Resources offices and the DWR’s Internet Web site (wildlife.utah.gov).
To be entered in the 2003-2004 Utah Cougar Draw, permit applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Hunters who have a major credit card are encouraged to apply on the DWR’s Web site.
Hunters who don’t have a major credit card must mail their application in. To avoid missing the 5 p.m., Oct. 15 cut-off date, applicants are encouraged to obtain an application and mail it in as soon as possible.
Judi Tutorow, the wildlife licensing coordinator for the DWR, reminds hunters that if they draw a permit for a limited entry cougar permit area, they may not purchase a permit to hunt on a harvest objective cougar permit area.
“Before applying for a limited entry permit, hunters need to decide which hunt they want to participate in,” she said.
Draw results will be posted by Nov. 19 at Division of Wildlife Resources offices and the DWR’s Internet Web site.
