The Carbon High girls soccer program will have a vacancy at the end of the season; coach Dave Capalbo has announced his plans to step down as the head coach after four years.
“I’ve accomplished what I set out to do four years ago. It has been the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done,” Capalbo commented. “Whoever takes over for me should have a solid program and a very good team returning.”
Capalbo said he is concerned about the future of the program, though.
Soccer is considered a club sport and has not been sactioned by the school board. As a result, coaching is done on unpaid, volunteer basis.
“The last thing I want to see happen is this program folding up,” he said. “They are the best kids any coach could ask for.”
Anyone interested in the coaching position needs to contact Dave Capalbo at davecapalbo@hotmail.com
Capalbo said he is looking to fill the position as soon as possible to start making plans for next season and to allow a smooth transition.
