Donald Vigil


SUNNYSIDE/BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZ.-Donald Frederick Vigil, 76, of Bullhead City, Ariz. passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 in Provo, of cancer.
He was born August 19, 1927 in Durango, Colo. to Jose Conrad and Lillie Mae Reed Vigil.
Donald’s family moved to Sunnyside when he was a small boy. He attended school in both Sunnyside and Price. He served in U.S. Army during WWII as a construction foreman in the Pacific Theater.
Don returned to Sunnyside after the war and worked in coke ovens and later with the Carbon County Sheriffs Department. At the time of Don’s retirement, he worked as a security foreman for River Palms Casino in Laughlin, Nev.
Don enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman and collected arrowheads throughout Carbon and Emery counties. He loved his cats and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Janey (Louis) Hardy, Pleasant Grove; Kathy (Jim) Ward, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; grandchildren, Brett, Steven, Adam, Scott, Angelee, and Andrew “AJ” Hardy, all of Utah County; Brad and Kelly Ward, both of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; three great-granddaughters; brother, Harold Vigil, Moreno Valley, Calif.; stepsons: Byron (Julie) Harvey, Vernal; Robert (Marion) Harvey, West Los Angeles, Calif.; very special nephew, Ron Pierce, Moab; and close friend, Paul Lindemeyer, Bullhead City, Ariz. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers: Tommy and Frank; two sisters, Lucille and Irene and stepson, Boyd Harvey.
Private family services will be held later this week.


Evan Nelson


FERRON – Evan Guy Nelson, age 92, passed away Sept. 18, 2003 in Ferron.
He was born Nov. 27, 1910 in Ferron to Guy Martin and Eunice C. Madsen Nelson. He married Lucille Sauls Spence May 28, 1998 in Nephi.
Evan graduated form BYU and taught art in Helper and Saline. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army. After the war he taught art in the American Fork High School for 40 years. His own paintings reflected his love for the outdoors, horses and dogs.
He is survived by wife, Lucille, Ferron; brother, Philip C. Nelson, Ferron; sisters, Beverly Curtis, Phoenix, Ariz.??? and Carol McArthur, Price; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were Sept. 20, 11 a.m., in the Ferron Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.


Joan Nikas


PRICE – Joan McFadden Nikas, age 73, passed away Sept. 18, 2003 at Castle Country Care Center in Price after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1929 in Provo to Theron and Pauline Carlile McFadden. Married Anthony W. Nikas Nov. 28, 1975. He died May 2, 2001.
Survived by brother, William (Naomi) McFadden, Springville; children, Roy A. (Yvonne) Nikas, Price; Jan N. (Joe) Rolando, Sandy; Susan (Rodney) Chord, Kansas; Martel J. Burr, Paulette Nikas, Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Michael Mathews, Lisa (Mark) Price, Wendy Stumph, Robert (Crystal) Stumph, Randy (Jacinda) Stumph; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kenneth Price; Sean Solice, and Amber Stumph. Preceded in death by parents; and brother; Stanley McFadden.
Trisagion Service Friday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Graveside service Saturday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m., Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
